Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) is a fast and sensitive method for detecting surface and near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials. Unlike PT, defects do not necessarily need to be open to the surface.
Instructions are prepared by LEVEL 3 expert personnel.
Operational Features
- Effective for sub-surface flaw detection
- Rapid results for high-volume forged/cast parts
- High contrast indications for easy evaluation
Process Limitations
- Limited to ferromagnetic materials (Steel, Iron)
- Demagnetization may be required post-test
- Thick coatings can mask detection sensitivity
